Alright, guys....

This thread is about Neo's computer issues and it needs to get back to that. I would prefer not to lock this thread, as I'd like to see Neo's computer troubles resolved.

Neo, any update?

Sounds like RAM. Otherwise, if you have another clean computer that's compatible with the RAM you have in this computer, try putting the possibly-faulty RAM into the good computer, etc... Same thing with the CPU if that's possible.

Best of luck D:

No change, and there isn't another computer anywhere near this generation around to test on, though that was a great idea.

Pretty sure it's RMA time. Only had the system for 6 months.

Do you have a friend or someone who can loan you a stick of known-good RAM that's compatible so you can narrow down the RAM vs the mobo?

No, no one around like that.

Most of the PCs in general around here are too old a generation to use my RAM. Although, I am checking models and stuff to be sure of that. I guess, as I said, I'll do an RMA, which sucks for multiple reasons, not the least of which I could be without my computer for a month or more. I'll be able to get on the site and maybe even TS, but no games or anything for quite a bit. No video stuff, no graphics stuff. None of this is good when you are trying to build a business around this stuff.

Not to mention they'll want the entire computer back, so I get to remove all my HDDs and cords, box it all up, and ship it across the entire continent. It weighs like 35 pounds.

Will you have to pay for shipping? If so, how much is it? Would it be cheaper to just replace the ram?

I shouldn't have to pay shipping. We'll see, I'm going to call them in a little and see what they say...Considering this is their business, I'm hoping that they've seen this problem many times, and will be pretty sure of the fix. If it ends up being RAM, maybe they'll just send me some. Find out soon.

Good news, if I can perhaps check here and narrow my problem down to RAM or mobo, they will let me return only the defective part for replacement, instead of shipping everything back. So that's good.

I may have to take my ram to a PC store in town (known for ripping off old folks) and let them test the ram for me. I don't have some of the tools they do for that. But before that, I'm still looking to see if any of the systems I have access to might run my ram so I can test it first.

I'll keep ya updated. Thanks for the advice and stuff so far.

The latest:I was given advice to try memtest86, and I was skeptical because I don't get any response from anything, (including video signal), but figured I would give it a shot...Created a bootable memtest USB stick, but got nothing.

Was a good idea though. So far no other computers around here will run ram that is DDR4 2800. Everything around here is DD2 or so, 240 pin, whereas this DDR4 is 288 pin.

If I could diagnose PRECISELY the defective part, I'd get the shipping process started, but no luck yet.

Might have to go to a local computer store to figure out exactly which part is defective, what a headache this is already!
