Any one use Linux Centos 6.8 to install on a Dell Dimensions 3000 Pentium 4?

I had to remove my wifi card to prevent the computer from stalling when it detected other devices. Now, I am trying to get KDE or GNOME graphic user interface going. Does anyone have experienced installing linux on older machines?

All I know about installing Linux is to ALWAYS push through the installation process, correctly the FIST TIME. Avoid hitting the back arrow or checking out new features or settings.

Sounds like the computer isn't compatible with Linux CentOS 6.8. Had the same issue on one of my older laptops, and that's what I had discovered, not totally 100% sure though. I forget the work-a-round that I did to get it to work but it was a headache.
