Image Fonejacker

This is Baggus! He loves to play spy and is a member of the Fish Highlander Team. His Spy hat, the Pom-Pommed Provocateur, is a community-created cosmetic item just for the Spy. It's a team-colored ski mask with diamond patterns adorning the sides and neck of the mask and a bouncing gray pom-pom on the top. The hat's design and original name (Face-stabber) are references to the British comedy series "Fonejacker" and "Facejacker". Baggus had painted his hat Pink.

Image Image

The cross necklace you see is part of the Exorcizor. The Exorcizor is a community-created multi-class cosmetic item for the Soldier, Pyro, Medic, and Spy. It equips the selected class with a paintable clergy shirt and a gold necklace, with a cross that changes depending on the class. The Soldier has two rockets, the Pyro has two Fire Axes, the Medic has a medical cross, and the Spy has two knives resembling a cross. The Pyro's asbestos suit also gains a partially unzipped zipper, so that the clergy suit can be seen. The Exorcizor was added to the game October 26, 2012 during the Spectral Halloween Special. It was originally called the "Clergyman's Collar".
Image
BAggus's button pins, Flair!, is a community-created cosmetic item wearable by all classes. The item is a set of small badges and can be sprayed with the Decal Tool. The backpack icon shows BLU and RED team logos, a picture of Saxton Hale's face, and the Team Fortress 2 logo. Each class wears the set of badges in a different fashion, with some badges being worn more than once, and others varying in size. As you can see, Baggus has chosen to diplay My Little Pony icons with the use of his Decal tool.

Baggus is seen using his Guitar Taunt in the top picture and hanging with some Spy buddies in the bottom pic! ^_^ Even though his hat and badge are different, you can recognize Baggus by his Brony Pins.

This is Royalmyiser! Check out his Sniper on the run! Royal's hat, the Brim-Full Of Bullets, is a community-created cosmetic item for the Sniper only. It appears as a dark gray Boss of the Plains with a beige band holding 3 bullets on one side. The name is a reference to the 1964 spaghetti western film, A Fistful of Dollars, directed by Sergio Leone and starring Clint Eastwood. This hat has 3 Style options to wear: Good, Bad and Ugly. Interestingly enough, the style changes only effect the paint colors on this hat. The Bad style changes the color of the hat to match the Sniper's vest and paints both the hat and its band, and the Ugly style adds team colors, changes the color of the hat to match the Sniper's pants and paints only the hat.

Image

On his face, Royalmyiser is wearing the Five-Month Shadow. It's a community-created cosmetic item for the Sniper only. It is a rough, dark brown beard. The item's name is a play on the term "five o'clock shadow", the stubble on a man's face that grows during the day. The design of the beard is a reference to MacReady, the main character in the 1982 film "The Thing". The publicity blurb references the final scene in which MacReady and his friend Childs share a bottle of scotch as their camp burns around them.

Image MacReady

Royal's Sniper outfit is the Chronomancer. The Chronomancer is a community-created cosmetic item just for the Sniper. It appears as a jacket with padded shoulders, rolled-up sleeves and square buttons. This item, together with the Flapjack and Medical Mystery, were contributed together under the Neo Teufort Collection.

The Neo Teufort Collection

Image

Lastly, Royal's weapon of choice is the Specialized Killstreak Festive Huntsman. This weapon preforms the same as a regular Huntsman bow and arrow except the festive lights that twinkle when in use. How decorative! The Killstreak keeps track of his kills streaks each round with out dying. Once he dies the killstreak counter starts over. In addition to a kill counter, a Specialized Kit also applies a colored sheen to the weapon. As the player's streak increases, the sheen becomes more intense. The Sheen on his Huntsman is the Deadly Daffodil which is yellow in color.

This is Professor B! He loves to play Spy and has played on the Fish Highlander team! For his Spy, Professor has chosen to wear the famous Earbuds! Earbuds are a cosmetic item for all classes. They appear as a stylized version of the white earbuds that normally come with various handheld Apple products (ex. iPhones). They are connected to the player's ear area by loose white cords. When worn, white musical notes are intermittently seen playing from the Earbuds. The musical notes have no sound effect. This item was awarded to players who launched Team Fortress 2 using the OS X operating system (at the time Mac OS X) between June 10, 2010 and June 14, 2010. The offer was later extended to August 16, 2010 before coming to an end.

Image

Earbuds became so popular in Team Fortress 2 that they practically became their own money system reference. For example... I am wanting to trade an Unusual Hat for 10 Buds (10 Earbuds). 10 Buds may be actual pairs of Earbuds or Keys or Metal equivalents or Money equivalents or other Item equivalents. These values can change daily. This is an estimated value at current prices. As you can see, Buds are used as the highest tier of value.

One Bud = about 10 Keys
One Key = about 18 Refined Metal or $2.03-$2.49
One Refined = 18 regular weapons or about 12 cents

This was the original Trailer when Team Fortress 2 first offered the Earbuds.

ImageYou'll also notice Professor B's little Spy buddy on his shoulder. The Spycrab is a community-created promotional cosmetic item just for the Spy. It adds a crab which sits on the Spy's left shoulder. The crab has a cigarette and a team-colored balaclava, similar to the Spy's, though the balaclava goes over the crab's legs and pincers, which grow out of the top of the head. A Balaclava is a ski mask designed to expose only part of the face. When players equipped with this item kill an enemy unassisted by another player, the killfeed shows everyone in Pyroland that it gets the assist, with its custom name... if it has one. This crab is a reference to a longstanding and very popular animation bug with the Disguise Kit in which the Spy appears to crouch and walk like a crab.

Professor B's weapon of choice for his Spy is the Festive Ambassador gun. The Ambassador is an unlockable secondary weapon for the Spy. It is a large-barreled revolver with a deep team-colored (red for RED, brown for BLU) rosewood grip, and an engraving of a reclining woman on the barrel. The Ambassador is automatically given to any player who obtains 5 Spy achievements.
Image
You can tell Professor's Gun is the Festive version because you'll notice a small wire and single Christmas light taped underneath the barrel of the gun. Festive Ambassadors preform the same in game as the regular Ambassador except for the tiny light that lights up the end of the gun. The Festive variant of the Ambassador also has the likeness of a different woman engraved on the barrel, holding a mistletoe above her head and hiding a knife behind her back.

This is Hektonamus's Pyro! On his head he's wearing the Point and Shoot. Point and Shoot is a promotional cosmetic item for all classes. It's a team-colored pointed 'witch' hat with a large belt above the brim, similar to the hat worn by the wizard Amadeus in Trine 2. The description of this item references that the character Amadeus is incapable of conjuring a fireball, a recurring joke in the Trine series. This hat was awarded in Genuine quality to players who pre-ordered Trine 2 on Steam before its release on December 7, 2011, as well as to those who purchased the collector's edition at any time after its release.

ImageYou can tell from the white music notes that Hektonamus is wearing the Earbuds. Earbuds are a cosmetic item for all classes. They appear as a version of the white earbuds that normally come with various Apple products. They are connected to the player by white cords. When worn, white musical notes are intermittently seen playing from the Earbuds. The musical notes have no sound effect. Buds were awarded to players who launched Team Fortress 2 using the OS X operating system (at the time Mac OS X) between June 10, 2010 and August 16, 2010. Buds are a very valuable item.

ImageYou'll notice a gray bird badge on Hektonamus's Pyro. The Operation Two Cities Badge is a cosmetic item for all classes. It's earned by completing your first mission of the "Operation Two Cities" Tour of Duty in Mann Up mode. It tracks a player's progress through the various Mann vs. Machine missions. The badge's level will increase based on the amount of times you've completed the challenges in Mann Up mode.

ImageLastly, you'll see his weapon of choice looks like something you should be getting your mail in. The Postal Pummeler is a community-created melee weapon for the Pyro. It is a violently uprooted olive colored mailbox with the number 606 painted on the side. This mailbox functions identically to the Axtinguisher. An early version of this weapon featured a painted on face, and a small handle under the head of the mailbox.

Part of the name "postal" refers to going postal. Going postal, in American English slang, means becoming extremely and uncontrollably angry, often to the point of violence, and usually in a workplace environment. A "pummeler" is one who beats up or smashes things or people. So Postal Pummeler is a play on words referring to a Postal deliverer who has lost his temper and is smashing things with the mailbox. P.S. Don't forget to give your postal deliverer a Christmas card this year or you could be next on the Postal Pummeler list! ^_^

This is Happy Ain't So Happy, or formerly known as Sotorks! You'll notice a party hat on his Heavy's head. The Party Hat is a cosmetic item for all classes. It's a team-colored conical hat with darker colored swirls, held together by staples in the back. It's similar to the one previously attached to players in birthday mode, this one being larger in size. The Party Hat is given to all users who play Team Fortress 2 during birthday celebrations for Team Fortress in August. The Team Fortress birthday Party Hat was added August 23, 2011.
Image
Happy's Heavy is also wearing the Professor Speks which is an all-class cosmetic item. It's a pair of navy blue, thick-rimmed glasses held together with a rubber band and paper clip, identical to the glasses seen on the Professor's Peculiarity. When a player with a free account upgrades to a premium account by purchasing an item in the Mann Co. Store, they are presented with an option to select the name of the person who referred them to (or helped them the most with) Team Fortress 2. Any existing premium account player who is selected in this fashion receives the Professor Speks.
Image
Happy's Heavy is also sporting a well-groomed beard. The Unshaved Bear is a community-created cosmetic item just for the Heavy. It gives the Heavy a neatly-trimmed beard, as an alternative to the default stubbly look. The Heavy has quite a few items that reference a Bear.

The Heavy has the:
the Unshaved Bear, a neatly-trimmed beard
the Bear Necessities, a bear's head and forepaws draped upon the Heavy's head
the Warrior's Spirit is a pair of rough, brown bear paws with sharp claws that are strapped over the Heavy's fists
Horace is an all-class brown plush bear's head that covers the top of the head
and the Little Bear which is a small version of the Giant Heavy Robot in a pouch to the Heavy's belt

ImageLastly, you notice Happy's Heavy hands have peculiar gloves on them. The Bread Bite is a melee weapon just for the Heavy. It's a small bread monster from the short film Expiration Date torn in half and worn as boxing gloves. When the weapon is in use, the bread monster's head on the right hand looks around and growls at the player. It also snaps its jaws when punching, however this doesn't do any extra damage against enemies. This weapon functions identically to the Gloves of Running Urgently.

This is Ryol! She loves to snipe and is a Member of the Fish Highlander Team. On Ryol's head you see the Shooter's Sola Topi which is a community-created cosmetic item just for the Sniper. It's a rounded beige pith helmet (also known as the safari helmet) with a white sash, as well as a thin brown belt tied around the brim of the hat. Ryol's Shooter's Sola Topi is an Unusual Hat. The snow cloud above her hat shows that her hat has the Blizzardy Storm Unusual effect. The cloud appears to be snowing on her where ever she goes. Unusual hats are very valuable in Team Fortress 2. The chances of uncrating an Unusual item are about one in one hundred. There are currently 337 cosmetic items that can have one of 66 total effects. The only methods to get an Unusual item are by unlocking a Mann Co. Supply Crate with a Mann Co. Supply Crate Key, by trading, or by purchases through the Steam Market.

Image

The 66 Total Unusual Cosmetic Effects ATM are:

@ The First 14 Effects... Burning Flames, Circling Heart, Circling Peace Sign, Circling TF Logo, Green Confetti, Green Energy, Haunted Ghosts, Massed Flies, Purple Confetti, Purple Energy, Scorching Flames, Searing Plasma, Sunbeams, and Vivid Plasma could possibly be found in any crates #1 to #25.

@ The Next 8 Effects... Blizzardy Storm, Bubbling, Nuts n' Bolts, Orbiting Fire, Orbiting Planets, Smoking, Steaming, and Stormy Storm could be found in crates #26 to #57.

@ The Next 7 Effects... Aces High, Cloud 9, Dead Presidents, Disco Beat Down, Kill-a-Watt, Miami Nights, and Terror-Watt could be found in crates #59 and higher.

@ The Next 23 Effects... Cauldron Bubbles, Cloudy Moon, Eerie Orbiting Fire, Flaming Lantern, Harvest Moon, It's A Secret To Everybody, Knifestorm, Misty Skull, Stormy 13th Hour, Arcana, Chiroptera Venenata, Darkblaze, Demonflame, Hellfire, Poisoned Shadows, Something Burning This Way Comes, Spellbound, Amaranthine, Bonzo The All-Gnawing, Haunted Phantasm Jr, Ghastly Ghosts Jr., Stare From Beyond, and The Ooze could only be found in any crate opened during a Halloween Event.

@ The Next 10 Effects... Anti-Freeze, Electrostatic, Green Black Hole, Memory Leak, Overclocked, Phosphorous, Power Surge, Roboactive, Sulphurous, and Time Warp can only be found by unlocking the RoboCrate.

@ And the Last 4 Effects... Death at Dusk, Frostbite, Molten Mallard, and Morning Glory can only be found by unlocking the End of the Line Community Crate.

Image

Also you'll notice Ryol's Unusual "I See You" Taunt! In this particular Taunt, the Sniper will point two fingers towards his eyes, then points his finger outwards in the gesture of pointing at someone while saying: "I see you, mate" or "I see you, ya mongrel". Ryol's Unusual Taunt has the Fountain of Delight Effect. This Effect has pink light, sparkles, and hearts spewing out of the Sniper while he performs the "I See You" Taunt. Unusual Taunts are (in general) more valuable than Unusual Hats. There are currently only 18 taunts that can have one of 11 total effects. These Unusual Taunts have a slim chance to be found in a Mann Co. Audition Reel or a Mann Co. Director's Cut Reel. These Reels are like crates that need to have a key purchased to open them.

The 11 possible Unusual Taunt Effects ATM are:

@ Fountain of Delight, '72, Holy Grail, Mega Strike, Midnight Whirlwind, Screaming Tiger, Showstopper, Silver Cyclone, Skill Gotten Gains, and two Halloween ones named... Ghastly Ghosts and Haunted Phantasm.

One difference between Unusual Cosmetics and Unusual Taunts... the effects on Unusual Hats can be seen at all times in-game where as the effects on Unusual Taunts can only be seen while the player is performing the taunt. When the taunt is over, the effects are unseen untill the player performs the taunt again.

I'd agree with Deadlier, though, you did put all the time and effort to research about unusuals. :)
Great job as usual. ^^
