CC and Vanilla.tf

Post by Hudbus » November 20th, 2017, 3:15 pm

Long story short a few of the changes made to The FISH last month (correct me if that timeframe is wrong) has made our server non-vanilla and as such has removed us from the site.

I'm not sure how important this is nowadays, but I figured I'd at the least note this.

That and I'm not a huge fan of round-end prophunt.

Sorry, I'm not sure what disqualifies the Server as Vanilla. We enabled Halloween Mode on the Fish 2 Months ago (before September 20th). If this qualifies to drop our Server off the "Able List" then it started then. I assume you're referring to being able to bring in Queued players searching for games, is this right? Other changes were made after September 20th like Prop Hunt being Reactivated. We also have !RTV, !Nominate, and !Votescramble active on the Fish. I'm not sure if these would affect the Server in the same way.

Prop Hunt is the problem here, at least with the site. One of their requirements is that there be no gameplay changes of any sort, save for Random Crits being enabled or disabled.

Prop Hunt is outside of this and as such, likely lead to the removal of the server from this site. https://vanilla.tf/#

However, I do question how important this is. I was mainly looking to see if our former Div. Leader, Bill was concerned about this or if this is a non-issue.

I only see Bill periodically these days. I guess my thoughts on it are... the End Round Prophunt only lasts seconds at the end of round anyway... I'm thinking we could forego it if it would benefit the Server. I'll see if I can contact Bill and see what he thinks. Thanks for bringing this to our attention. I didn't realize this.

Well, I really dislike prophunt, but I guess other people like it. I also don't know how much traffic we were getting from vanilla.tf prior to the changes. When I browse through there, there usually aren't a lot of users on, so I would guess not too many. On the other hand, any traffic is better than zero. My opinion is to ditch prophunt and stay vanilla, but I will defer to Peek on this as she has been organizing game nights on the server more so than I.

LOL! Well then... Hurrah, I get to make the call!  I think we should remove it then. It's been fun having it on for a season! Also, I noticed new comers are always confused as to what is happening End Round. So I think we should go for it! Bill are you able to Remove it or do we need to contact one of the other Head Admins to Remove it?

I do not have access for that. We would have to have one of the IT folks take care of it.

I'll check in on the server and see if these changes were made. If not I'll contact some of our IT guys.

I'm not sure if this was implemented or not. Good question!

Just checked. It was not removed. The server however is up-to-date currently.
